NuGo Athlete of the Month: Danny Chew

Cyclist Danny Chew is a staple of the Pittsburgh biking community. The Dirty Dozen is a road race founded by Chew that takes riders up 13 of the steepest and longest hills around Pittsburgh. Outside of the Dirty Dozen, Chew’s accomplishments include two Race Across America wins and an ongoing goal of riding 1,000,000 lifetime miles.

Danny Chew first tried NuGo bars in October 2015. When asked what he thought of them he said, “They have a nice texture, a good taste, and are a good source or energy. I ate several of them on a century (100 mile) ride.”

At the age of 10, he rode his first 200 mile touring event with his family. He has a math degree from the University of Pittsburgh. At one time, Chew had pi memorized to 100 decimal places. Step climbing is his most common form of cross-training. Once, he step climbed up the University of Pittsburgh's 36-story building 86 times over a 12 hour period!

NuGo is proud to have been one of the Dirty Dozen sponsors this year. Visit Danny Chew’s website. For more information about the 2015 Dirty Dozen, read this photo recap by Brad Quartuccio.
