NuGo Athlete of the Month: Meghan Musnic

Meghan Musnicki’s story is a story of redemption and hard work that led to two Olympic Gold Medals in rowing. She began rowing as a freshman in college and won the NCAA championships at Ithaca College in 2004 and 2005. She graduated college in 2005 and decided to try and make the US Rowing National Team. Five years later after three failed attempts of being cut from the team, she made her first team in 2010. She won the World Championships in the Women’s 8+ Category in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015. She went to the Olympics in London 2012 and Rio 2016 and won a gold medal at both games.

Her greatest achievement as a rower would be never giving up and continuing to pursue her goal of making the national team even after her three failed attempts. “Plus winning two Olympic Gold Medals, that’s pretty cool,” she said.

Outside of rowing, Meghan shares her love for personal health and wellness through personal training. She enjoys being active and outdoors as much as possible. She is a rowing consultant as well as a peak performance associate coach for corporate professionals at Valor Performance. “I believe training the mind is just as important as training the body,” she said.

Meghan’s favorite NuGo line is NuGo Slim. She enjoys all the flavors but her “go to” is NuGo Slim Raspberry Truffle. Being a personal trainer, she is constantly on-the-go and sometimes it is hard to fit in a meal or snack if its not convenient. She can be found eating NuGo bars in the morning before she heads into work, pre-workout, or as an afternoon snack to tide her over until her next meal.

“NuGo allows me to get in some quality protein without tons of sugar and/or artificial sweeteners. All too often the bars in the market today are packed with one or the other, it is rare to find a bar that has quality ingredients, good protein to carb ratio, low GI and doesn’t break the calorie bank. Plus, I love chocolate! It satisfies my craving for sweetness.”
