Sugar alcohols, including maltitol and sorbitol, are some of the many causes of bloating shared by nutritionist Joy Bauer on the Today Show. Sugar alcohols are found in many sugar-free foods. Here is a quote from Joy’s website about sugar alcohols.

Secondly, sugar alcohols, another class of sugar substitutes that includes sorbitol, maltitol, and mannitol, are common IBS triggers. If sugar alcohols cause you digestive discomfort, steer clear of all food, drinks, candy, and gum that contain them.”
