NuGo Fan of the Month: Nikki Orsborne

After trying almost every vegetarian protein bar on the market and trying to avoid dairy, Nikki was still dissatisfied. One day five years ago, she saw NuGo Dark Chocolate Pretzel in a local store. As soon as she saw the minimal healthy ingredients, she decided to try NuGo and was instantly hooked!

Nikki’s favorite flavor is now NuGo Dark Chocolate Coconut, and she also eats NuGo Dark Chocolate Pretzel. She has NuGo Dark for breakfast with her coffee every morning after her run. When she wants to curb any sweet cravings without the guilt, she eats NuGo Dark occasionally in the evenings. Every time she travels, Nikki packs NuGo in her carry-on bag, for breakfast every morning, as well as a few extra in case of emergency.

“Being a strict vegetarian, travel can get tricky because my food options are often limited - so NuGo to the rescue! I have enjoyed NuGo bars in San Francisco, Las Vegas, San Antonio, Chicago, & Pittsburgh to name a few. In May 2018, I ran my first half marathon in Pittsburgh. When I attended the pre-race expo, I was thrilled to see a NuGo booth and indulged in every sample available. It was then that I fell in love with NuGo Dark Chocolate Coconut and that has been my favorite ever since.”

As an IT Project Manager for WorldTech IT, she is studying for her CAPM certification. Nikki’s fitness interests are road and trail running as well as yoga. She explained how NuGo Dark helped her with her first half marathon.

“I typically never eat before a run, but on the morning of my first half marathon in Pittsburgh, I knew I would need a little something to get me through. I didn't want to chance eating anything that might make me sick - so once again, I turned to my old reliable. As I walked from the North Shore to Downtown before the race started, I ate a few bites of NuGo Dark Chocolate Pretzel, which has a little more salt to aid a runner! I tucked the rest of the bar in my running belt for safe keeping and finished my first half marathon in 2 hours, 12 minutes, fueled only by NuGo and water!”
