In May 2017, Ashley, a civil engineer, was on the search for a tasty, 200 calories or less, vegan protein bar. Luckily in her local Wegmans grocery store, she discovered vegan NuGo Slim and NuGo Dark. Ashley has been on a weight loss journey since her senior year of college, and has lost 80 pounds. One reason she enjoys NuGo Slim is because the macros and calories fit well into her diet. 

Ashley’s favorite flavors are NuGo Slim Crunchy Peanut Butter, NuGo Slim Toasted Coconut, NuGo Dark Chocolate Pretzel with Sea Salt, and NuGo Dark Mint Chocolate Chip. She eats at least one NuGo Dark or NuGo Slim bar daily, typically as an afternoon snack, which keeps her full until dinner. Ashley’s fiancé, a college senior, eats one or two NuGo bars per day, typically as a post-workout snack. He loves NuGo Dark Chocolate Pretzel and Mint Chocolate.

When asked what she likes best about vegan NuGo bars, Ashley said, “I like the variety of flavors, the low calories (in comparison to other vegan protein bars), and high protein. It's a win, win, win for me!”

She workouts five to seven mornings per week, doing High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and strength training. She loves exercising and describes the gym as “my jungle gym.” Ashley gets excited to try new equipment and new moves. She finally mastered double unders and now is targeting pull-ups and box jumps.

Ashley explained her philosophy on whole foods and weight loss.

“I want to show people that you can get healthy and stay healthy by eating delicious, filling and nutritionally dense foods. I do prefer whole non-packaged foods, but having a bar you can throw in your bag and go is great to have around. Plus the ingredients in NuGo bars are whole foods you can read and understand.”
