NuGo Athlete of the Month: Carly Seymour

Carly Seymour, a 25-year-old runner from Pennsylvania, will be competing in the Olympic Marathon Trials in February 2016. In March 2015, she qualified for the Olympic Marathon Trials at the NYC half marathon with a time of 1:14. Since middle school, she has been competing in 5k and 10k races, but is now shifting gears to focus on longer distances. “I have found that the longer the race, the more competitive I am, and the more I enjoy the race experience,” remarked Carly.

She began running because her middle school coach, Randy Wilson, recognized her talent. Carly loves that running offers the challenge of pushing yourself to the limit, while continuously setting and chasing after goals.

Now, Carly leads a busy life as a graduate student at Duquesne University who runs over 100 miles per week. She will graduate with her Doctorate in School Psychology in fall 2016. She graduated from Duke in 2012.

“I love NuGo bars because they taste delicious and are made from real quality ingredients,” said Carly. She loves the NuGo Dark line, especially NuGo Dark Chocolate Pretzel. “I have a gluten intolerance, so NuGo bars are an easy, healthy, snack that are gluten-free,” explained Carly.

Her current goal is to start focusing on the marathon distance in hopes of becoming one of the best marathoners in the USA. She will be making her debut in the Chicago marathon in fall 2015. Follow Carly’s marathon progress on Twitter and Instagram.
