NuGo Fan of the Month: Jamie Montel Brooks

Jamie Brooks and her 9-year-old son Dylan lead a very active lifestyle and love gluten-free NuGo Dark. Four years ago, Jamie was the 4th nationally ranked racewalker for the 5K distance. Jamie explained how she now balances teaching math at Penn State and being a full time student working on her doctorate in Educational Leadership at Liberty University with running, biking, and parenting.

“Being a mom, teacher, and student are my priorities in my life these days. Since I don’t have the time to train for racewalk competitions, I have found a healthy balance for working out to complement my lifestyle. I can’t say that I ‘train’ every day, but I do run or bike 6 days per week and can hop in a local 5k to run with my son, just for fun, or to race myself against the clock.”

Jamie first tried NuGo bars at a Sheetz in PA and then started stocking up on them whenever she was at a race expo. Now, she orders them online regularly. She eats at least one per day every morning. Her favorite flavor is NuGo Dark Chocolate Pretzel.

“I like that NuGo bars are good fuel for my body! I found something that tastes great and doesn’t contain gluten!!!! I knew something was wrong, but I just never suspected celiac disease. Once I started the correct diet, I felt much better,” said Jamie.

Dylan is an ice hockey player who enjoys running, biking, swimming, and playing piano. Dylan shares NuGo Dark with his friends, and of course mom is happy that they are eating healthy treats. Recently, Jamie and Dylan enjoyed a snack of NuGo bars in between a bike ride and hike they did at Ohiopyle State park in the mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania.
