We never substitute palm kernel oil for natural cocoa butter. The fantastic taste comes when cocoa butter melts in your mouth, releasing luscious chocolate flavor. Other companies use palm kernel oil, which raises the melting point of chocolate above body temperature, leaving you with a waxy and overly sweet taste because it does not melt in your mouth.

NuGo Slim: Low Sugar with No Maltitol or Artificial Sweeteners
NuGo Slim low sugar, high protein bars are sweetened with luscious real dark chocolate and chicory root fiber without using maltitol or artificial sweeteners. Most low sugar or sugar-free bars use artificial sweeteners and maltitol, a sugar alcohol which can cause gastric distress and a bad aftertaste. Maltitol has a glycemic index response similar to table sugar.
Instead, NuGo Slim is sweetened with natural chicory root fiber with a 0 glycemic index response. This is why NuGo Slim has the lowest published glycemic index (24-29 GI) of any high protein, low sugar bar. Low glycemic foods can help keep blood sugar steady as part of a healthy diet for diabetes, prediabetes or weight management.
